Mike Rhoads

Mike Rhoads joined Atomic Design in 1999 and for many years served as Tom McPhillips’ charge scenic artist and art director on projects spanning the globe from MTV Japan’s VMA Awards in Tokyo to Hayley Westenra’s PBS special in New Zealand.  Serving as the principal “rendering arm” of Atomic Design, he has worked with countless designers, producers, directors, and artists to help them communicate their stories clearly and effectively to scene shops and clients alike.  With a background in designing for the theater (he remains active in Central PA’s regional theater community) Mike is able to bridge the gap from the highly theatrical to the corporately reserved.  Design credits include the Turner Network’s annual Upfront presentation (since 2005), the overall event design and corporate hospitality tents for the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship, Robin Williams’ HBO special “Weapons of Self-Destruction”, and the U.S tours for My Chemical Romance and Panic! at the Disco, to name a few.
