A special for PBS that was recorded in Auckland New Zealand.  In order to use the Maori element in the design we actually had to get permission since New Zealanders are very careful that Maori’s are never dishonored by the exploitation of their culture.  The defining issue with the set design was that despite a wide stage the theatre had a narrow proscenium opening.  By building set elements in the house, and an extended thrust over the seats, we were able to shoot into wings and give the impression of a much bigger stage
